September 6, 2015

Lorissa & baby were being monitored once/twice a week at McMaster when baby's measurements started falling further & further behind. She felt the entire pregnancy she was small - but at 29 weeks the measurements started falling too far behind. They checked the baby's measurements every other week to see if it had grown. On Friday, September 4 - the baby had only grown 60g in 2 weeks - so they decided it was time to induce Lorissa on Sunday. She was 35 weeks and the baby was estimated at 1212g (2 lb 10 oz). We scooted out to take a couple maternity pics on Friday night and went and enjoyed Saturday at Arrowhead with the Scholtens family.

Lorissa was induced around 10:00 a.m. Labor progressed fairly quickly and Anna Elizabeth was born at 4:29 p.m. She was 1220g (2 lbs 11 oz).  The neonatal team gave us about 45 seconds to hold her - before they whisked her away to the NICU.

After a couple hours we were able to go over to the NICU to see her. She was beautiful!

She was hooked up to the CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) just to help keep her lungs inflated - but she was breathing on her own.

Before we left for the hospital that morning - we reread our wedding passage.
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" Lamentations 3:22-23
